Lovely chiffon scarf, 17" x 72", created to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the 19th Amendment and Women's Suffrage.

About the Design

Featuring silhouettes of Susan B. Anthony and Elizabeth Cady Stanton, founders of the movement, the amendment is inscribed on their silhouettes. From the 1848 Seneca Falls Convention in New York to the passage of the amendment on August 18, 1920, many leaders carried the torch. Their names form the border of the scarf along with their lifespan: Alice Paul, Lucy Stone, Ida B. Wells, Julia Ward Howe, Anna Howard Shaw, Belva Ann Lockwood, Mary Church Terrell, Sojourner Truth, Frances Elizabeth Willard, Lucy Burns, Carrie Chapman Catt, Alice Stone Blackwell and Paulina Kellogg Wright Davis.

Suffragettes wore sashes of purple and green, which is the color palette of the scarf. An illustration depicts the marches and demonstrations in the nation’s capital and other cities since they were key to the success of the amendment’s passage.
